Gathering & Unravelling was a trio exhibition and public programme that took place at PuntWG.
The exhibition gathered new individual works by Bronwen Jones, Dasha Golova, and Élise Ory, drawing on their experiences with the communal nature of textile craft practices, whilst exploring their own curiosities through material. Through processes of unravelling, composing, reformulating, tending, and trusting, the artists explore the potential of textile material to uncover hidden stories, meanings, and values. Working with sensitivity and attentiveness, they explore themes of memory and ephemerality, the mundane and everyday, and the ways new material languages can emerge through dialogue between materials and hands.
The workshops, led by Elia Castino and Chiron Floris, invited us to gather and enjoy the long summer evenings, bringing us in touch with craft traditions that mark time, connect us with the rhythms of the natural world and the joys of communal making. With Elia Castino, we made a collective woollen mattress in the workshop Daydream Drifting; with Chiron Floris, we learned the intricate knots and decorative techniques of Filet di Bosa and explored the meanings behind the motifs of this centuries-old technique in the workshop Lace and Long Summer Evenings.
We also hosted drop-in textile repair workshops where visitors could learn techniques to repair their beloved textiles and clothes whilst sharing stories and time together.

Bronwen Jones’s work Lost & Found reflects on themes of value, time, and ephemerality. Through gestures of framing, concealing, and revealing, she considers how value is constructed through acts of attention. In these works, she asks how everyday materials are imbued with significance through repeated encounters and how meaning accumulates over time.
Within her exhibited work, Dasha Golova attempts to create from the act of searching with hands — or rather, of being led by them. She is fascinated by the creative capacity of certain languages to generate new words to signify meanings and attitudes with a precision rooted in their imperfection and their raw, freshly sprouted nature. By allowing the material to teach her how to listen and by discovering rhythm through making, the search turns into a dialogue with someone she loves. The perseverance involved in searching for a technique and the celebration of fragile structures are the reins of this sculptural piece, bringing together both her artistic and tailoring practices.
In her practice, Élise Ory is attracted to overlooked materials and imagery, and searches for methods to awaken material potentialities through acts of reformulation. One of her exhibited works is made of retrieved wallpaper from a house under renovation – shedding its layer of kitsch floral decor. A material that thickens, unravels, stretches, bleeds, blurs, merges, duplicates, and where gestures and mistakes are reintroduced. From this domestic landscape ghosts emerge. Functioning as carriers of memories, these works unfold a gendered decor that has been devalued, and question how we inhabit and relate to our current world.
