Textile Initiative Open Call 2026
We are open for proposals to contribute to the 2026 edition.
Textile Initiative is an event series that begins from the theme of textile, using it to bring together community to experiment and share knowledge, stories, skills and time. We see textile as a metaphor for weaving/breaking/repairing social fabric and aim to expand the field and relevance of textile practices. Textile Initiative takes place in different locations in Amsterdam and is organised by artists Bronwen Jones and Dasha Golova.
We are interested in proposals that reimagine seasonal celebrations or propose new traditions through social gatherings that connect us to cyclical processes and ways of marking time. This could be related to natural cycles of the land and harvest, spiritual interpretations, mythical and folk beliefs, how our relation to our outer and inner worlds change between midwinter and the summer solstice, or ways of being in community. This could be in the form of a workshop or other format of interaction that expands on the material and context of textile, for example through crafting, costumes, ornamentation, feasts, storytelling…
We are open to interpretations of this theme. We plan to curate the programme across 2026 and may suggest collaborations between proposals. We aim to offer selected contributors an artist fee, material budget, travel within the Netherlands, facilitation and communication of events. You can look at our website to get an idea of past events.
To apply, write a short proposal (max. 200 words) and send a few supporting images or a link to your website/portfolio by the end of the day on Sunday 1st February to textile.initiative@gmail.com
